What is Medical Marijuana?

The term medical marijuana refers to the use of the whole, unprocessed cannabis plant and its pure extracts to treat a disease or improve a symptom. It must be sourced from a medicinal-grade cannabis plant that has been meticulously grown without the use of toxic pesticides and fertilizers. NY State has strict guidelines for the cultivation and dispensing of their approved medical marijuana.

How can I get Medical Marijuana?

In order to legally buy medical marijuana from a NY state dispensary, you must have a NY medical marijuana card. You must obtain a certification from a physician in order to register for a NY medical marijuana card.

Can I get a Certification from any Doctor?

No.

Only a NY State approved & registered physician can evaluate your medical records, determine if you are eligible and provide certification that enables you to apply/register for a NY State medical marijuana card.

How do I register for a NY Medical Marijuana card?

After receiving your certification, you must register on the NY State Department of Health’s Online Patient Registration System which is accessed through NY.gov.com.

After your registration is processed, the Department of Health will mail you your Medical Marijuana card within 7-10 days.

Do I Smoke the Medical Marijuana?

No.

Smokeable and edible forms are not legal in New York. At this time, NY offers three forms of medical marijuana. Oil, Tincture and Pills.

Cannabis oil for vaporization or administration via an inhaler, tincture taken

sublingually and capsules taken orally.
